‘Street surfers’ under investigation by Sheriff’s Dept.

Sheriff’s deputies from the Malibu/Lost Hills Traffic Office are investigating an incident allegedly involving several Malibu High students who were observed “street surfing” on Pacific Coast Highway Wednesday morning, according to a press release from the traffic office.

A photograph taken from a school bus shows one of the students climbing on top of a moving vehicle in order to “surf” the highway.

“This highly dangerous and illegal activity comes in the wake of three recent fatalities on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, one which involved a 13-year-old Malibu student.,” Sgt. Phil Brooks stated in the press release.

If identified, both the driver and the student who climbed on the vehicle could be charged with several crimes including reckless driving.
