Waves soccer player Ana Pontes has been awarded the West Coast Conference’s top female scholar-athlete award.

Pepperdine University Waves soccer player Ana Pontes has been honored with the West Coast Conference’s Michael Gilleran Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, which is given to the conference’s top graduating female student-athlete. This is the second straight year that a Wave has earned the top award and the ninth time ever a Pepperdine student-athlete has earned the honor.

Pontes was a three-year starter for the Waves and played defensive midfielder. During her four seasons at Pepperdine, she helped the team to a combined record of 49-22-10. She graduated this year with a 3.71 grade point average and a degree in sports medicine.

“Ana Pontes is an extraordinary individual,” Pepperdine head coach Tim Ward said. “Ana’s career is one we are exceptionally proud of as she graduates Pepperdine as one of the best center midfielders to have ever played for the Waves.”
