The Federal Communications Commission will vote on June 2 to change the rules on media ownership. Three members of the five-member commission favor allowing single ownership of local TV stations, newspapers, radio stations and cable providers. There is strong White House pressure to do this, and is seen as “pay back” time for the president’s campaign supporters. It would allow a few corporations and individuals to control your access to the news. This would constrict the free flow of information to the public and deny the public a critical part of our democratic process. Please urge the Congress and the FCC to continue to avoid concentration of ownership, and to support a media where truth and the public interest override corporate profit and political control of the news. We do not want to be one nation under Fox.
