Malibu resident Matthew Rafeedie with Cooperstown Dreams Park founder Lou Presutti

Malibu Little Leaguer and middle school student Matthew Rafeedie won the Cooperstown Dreams Park home run competition in Cooperstown, N.Y. in June. He was designated by his travel team, the Westlake Angels, to compete in the competition against 103 other 12-year-old sluggers from throughout the country. In the championship round, Rafeedie hit five home runs in 10 swings, which was equaled by a slugger from Colorado. In the tiebreaking round, he hit five more home runs and his opponent hit only one. In the five-day baseball tournament that followed, the Angels won four games and lost four games. Rafeedie hit .642 with four home runs and 13 RBI.
