Students from all 16 Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) schools will benefit from a $25,000 gift from Kaiser Permanente to the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation (SMMEF). The donation, which adds Kaiser Permanente to SMMEF’s Corporate Partners program, will be used to fund innovative programs at SMMUSD public schools.

“We are delighted to support and enhance the health and well-being of the students, staff and families in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District,” Kaiser Permanente Senior Vice President Georgina Garcia said in a press release sent by SMMEF. “We care deeply about this vibrant and engaged community, and support the foundation’s work to ensure that all students thrive and reach their full potential.”

SMMEF-funded programs include arts education and enrichment grants for all SMMUSD schools. Many schools use Kaiser Permanente grants to promote student health, in line with the company’s mission to encourage health.

“We are very thankful for Kaiser Permanente’s generous contribution,” SMMEF Executive Director Linda Greenberg said. “I hope their gift is an inspiration to others to support education in our community.”
