Workers installed a new sign Friday morning at the American Apparel store on Pacific Coast Highway, near the intersection of Topanga Canyon Boulevard. The multi-story, mural-esque advertisement on the white building is a common sight for daily commuters along PCH.
Luis Mellado, owner of LM Sign Maintenance in Canoga Park, said the process of installing a new one takes approximately 4-5 hours. One of the difficulties in installation is smoothing out wrinkles in the canvas, he said.
The previous sign was only up for two months, but Murado said there is no set rotation the American Apparel sign, as past ones have been up for as long as a year.
