Malibu eighth-grader Ben Holmes is presented with an Eastbay All-American jersey from Terry Blythe, regional director of the Eastbay FBU All American program, during halftime of the North Oxnard Black Senior team’s game at Oxnard High School on Oct. 20.

Malibu Middle School eighth-grader Ben Holmes has been selected to play at the 2013 Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl Jan. 5 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Holmes will play offensive line for the eighth-grade West team during the game, which is put on by All American Games, Football University (FBU) and Eastbay.

At just shy of six-foot-two and 245 lbs., Holmes plays for North Oxnard Warriors Black Senior Team on both sides of the ball. He plays left tackle and guard on offense and left tackle on defense. North Oxnard is undefeated this season at 8-0, have only allowed six points in their last four games, and has clinched the top spot in their division.

“A two time All-American, Ben was thrust into an emergency role last year on the east squad,” Erik Richards, FBU national scouting director, said. “This year we’re putting him back where he belongs over on the west. Holmes was youth MVP at the Los Angeles camp in the spring of 2012.”
