On behalf of the entire board of the Malibu Film Society, we just wanted to thank the City of Malibu for all of the support we’ve received over our inaugural season. From appearances by top industry filmmakers like James Cameron and Norman Jewison to having Malibu’s only public screenings of the year’s best films (“The Hurt Locker” and “The Cove”), it’s been an incredible first year, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

That’s why we’ve come up with a special way to express our appreciation: free admission to see Oscar-winning actor Lou Gossett Jr. present the film for which he earned his Academy Award, “An Officer and a Gentleman.” The event will be held at Malibu Lumber Yard this Saturday, May 15, from 7 to 10 p.m. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis with reserved seats and tables for patrons of ChocolateBox Cafe.

This will be an outdoor screening so please be sure to dress warmly. From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Lou will be signing copies of his new book before sharing some of his personal stories about his remarkable career. The film will then start at 8 p.m., so please come out and join us for this free movie under the stars!
