Various news sources, including Variety and NBC Sports, have reported that Joe Lacob, majority owner of professional basketball’s Golden State Warriors of San Francisco, and his wife, Nicole Curran, just dropped $29.1 million on a Carbon Beach property in Malibu. The home, built in 1970, was recently remodeled and expanded by seller and former owner Joseph Englanoff, described as a former ER doctor turned real estate developer.

The 5,500-square-foot, three-level charcoal contemporary originally went on the market last April for $34.5 million. The high-tech residence includes five bedrooms, six baths, automatic sliding doors, a soundproof theater and an elevator.

Lacob is a Silicon Valley venture capitalist and a partner at Kleiner Perkins. Curran is board president of the Warriors Community Foundation. The couple’s primary residence since 2007 is located in Atherton, in Silicon Valley—a 14,000 square foot mansion on several acres.

Malibu realtor Chris Cortazzo of Compass had the listing for the Carbon Beach home, and Jack Turturici of Equity Advisors represented the buyers.
