Some Malibu residents will face increased traffic in the next few weeks as the city’s Public Works Department street improvement project gets under way.

The 2013-2014 Street Maintenance Project will be carried out from Sept. 9 through Oct. 16, according to the city. Project locations include Latigo Canyon Road, Corral Canyon Road, Philip Avenue, Cuthbert Road and Calpine Drive. Road work signs are out now, but actual construction is slated to begin at the end of this week, according to Malibu Public Works Supt. Arthur Aladjadjian.

Crews are likely to be at all locations intermittently to make preparations, however the more in-depth projects at Latigo Canyon Road and Corral Canyon Road are expected to be worked on first, he said.

Aladjadjian said the city intends to keep citizens informed.

“We have flashing message board signs up and notifications will be sent out to respective areas,” Aladjadjian said. “We will also update the city website.”
