In spite of Pepperdine’s 85-77 loss to the Belmont Bruins this past Saturday, the match presented Waves players with the opportunity to reach career milestones.
Los Angeles native and guard Lamond Murray Jr. scored 21 points, making it the sixth game of the season in which the player scored over 20 points. Murray also surpassed his 1,000-point career mark during Saturday’s game, becoming the 40th player in Pepperdine history to do so.
Senior guard Jeremy Major also had an impressive game, including scoring a season-high 21 points. It was his 100th career start. In addition to his contributions, the Pasadena native put up six assists and six rebounds during the match.
The Bruins took a 23-point lead by the end of the first half, leaving the Waves fighting to close the gap in the second, but not in enough time to bring home the win. Saturday’s match marks Pepperdine’s final home game until Jan. 5.
