Adios to bilingual advisor

It is with great sadness that I am writing this letter of farewell. For the last nine years it has been my privilege and pleasure to work with the parents and children of Malibu as the bi-lingual liaison for Malibu High School and the schools of SMMUSD. I can honestly tell you that it has been the best professional and personal experience of my life, thanks to the community of Malibu.

One of the things I have always encouraged my students to do is to take advantage of every positive learning opportunity that may come their way. Now I have the chance to improve my life with a new learning experience and felt it was important I take advantage of this challenge. I have been offered a position with a firm to continue the work I have been doing with our school district but on a larger scale. It will also require me to obtain my college degree, so I will have a new job with more responsibility and I will also be going back to school!

I am excited about my future, but at the same time I am sad to be leaving you, these wonderful schools, supportive community and most of all your children. You have been like an extended family to me, and I am grateful for your friendship and support these last nine years. I will continue to see many of you, as my son is still a student at Malibu High School and, of course, I will return for his games and activities.

I may not be working at Malibu High School, but you will always have an important place in my heart. I appreciate your support as I move forward in my career and encourage you to take advantage of all opportunities that come your way. In doing so, we provide a stronger role model for our children and those around us.
