Malibu resident Jeff Runyan spoke about his experience climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania at the Malibu Rotary Club’s Nov. 18 meeting.
Runyan decided to climb Africa’s tallest mountain for his 40th birthday in October 2014 with four of his long-time friends. The group took nine days to climb to the summit — Uhuru Peak.
Runyan spoke about his initial fear of climbing Kilimanjaro, his perseverance and the techniques involved in climbing one of the world’s tallest mountains.
