Trial date set for Shane murder case

Sina Khankhanian, who is accused of murder in the death of 13-year-old Emily Shane, appeared at the Airport Courthouse on Wednesday. The judge set a preliminary hearing for Jan. 13.

Khankhanian, who has pleaded not guilty, is being charged with one count of murder in the death of local 13-year-old Emily Rose Shane. Shane died April 3 when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Khankhanian on Pacific Coast Highway. The defendant faces as maximum sentence of life with the possibility of parole if convicted, according to a press release from the District Attorney’s Office.
