I’m certain that I’m not the only Malibuite who was shocked and saddened by actor Mel Gibson’s arrest and resulting tirade/temper tantrum last Friday. Gibson has made a public apology of sorts to the arresting officer and other general parties involved. It is not enough. As part of Mr. Gibson’s drunk driving conviction conditions, he should be required to visit the Museum of Tolerance, after which he should address leading local Jewish groups to discuss what he has learned (if anything), and how he intends to repair the damage he has caused. The presiding judge will have the authority to exercise these probation conditions (presuming Mr. Gibson is convicted on all charges). We hope he/she will exercise them. Oh, and Mr. Gibson, you don’t own my little piece of Malibu, I do!
