“I decided I was going to cook my wife dinner one Valentine’s and it was filet mignon. I got it out of the box ... started following the instructions and then I messed them up. So you’ve got this soufflé that’s burning, you’ve got the filet mignon that’s underdone, you’ve got the dessert that’s kind of mushy. Yes, it was an interesting Valentine’s.”
See what locals had to share about some memorable Valentine’s dates.
“I’m currently dating this guy, we’ve been dating for 5 years, actually today. On our first Valentine’s date, well, I had never eaten sushi before and he loves sushi. I thought … I’ll try sushi because I wanted to impress him and this is his thing. So we go to the sushi place, he orders a roll, and I thought, ‘I’ll just do it, I’ll put it I’m my mouth.’ I take a bite of it and I had this look of horror on my face because it was so disgusting and I just spit it out in a napkin and put in on the table and the rest of the date we were staring at each other like, OK, there’s an uneaten piece of sushi sitting there, in a napkin … but we’re still dating to this day!”
“When I was in grad school in Cleveland, Ohio, I was asked out by a guy whose family owned a funeral home. He took me over there and had me help him get a body ready for a funeral before we went out!”
“The funniest Valentine’s date for us was last night, because my wife and I, we went to gay clubs and yes, we made a lot of friends! Wonderful friends! Last night was the best, it was funny, we had lots of fun.”
“After 13 years of being together with my husband, I don’t think I’ve been on a Valentine’s date. I’m here on Valentine’s Day helping sell Girl Scout cookies with my daughter!”
