The Malibu West neighborhood came together for a good cause on Halloween, setting up an elaborate haunted mansion where funds raised benefited Mike Downing and his family. Downing, a Malibu West resident, is recovering from a stroke and many locals have banded together to help the family cover his medical bills and rehabilitation.
Friday’s haunted mansion was put together by Connor Hayes and Orrin Whalen, who spent two months working on the design. “There was a line down the street to get in from 5:30 til we shut it down at 9!” said Lori Hayes. “They both want to work in the set design business so hopefully they can use this as an example of their talent.”
