Helena Bode

A student who seeks leadership opportunities, Helena Bode was elected Student Council president this year by her peers after serving as Student Council representative in past years. She consistently displays a positive attitude, enthusiasm and dedication, and is described as someone who is kind, caring and trustworthy. Bode also values learning, is fluent in German, sings, plays tennis, soccer and the piano, and loves to bake as well.

Bode was born in South Africa to German parents who instilled within her the importance of helping those who are less fortunate, a trait she displays consistently in the community. She donates clothing to those in need and serves on the school’s Community Service Commission, which helps people, animals and the environment through causes both local and around the globe. As a part of the commission, Bode helped raise funds for the Children’s Lifesaving Foundation, Bus for Buyamba and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

“Helena exemplifies what is means to be a positive role model and citizen,” teacher Margo Dunn wrote.
