Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued a beach use advisory for all local beaches until 6 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, following rainfall from earlier this week. According to Dr. Jeffrey Gunzenhauser, the county’s interim health officer, residents should exercise caution when participating in any activity in “ocean waters around discharging storm drains, creeks and rivers.”

With the storms, there is a chance that bacteria or chemicals from trash and debris may have contaminated waters near these discharge sites.

If there is more rainfall, the advisory may be extended; according to the National Weather Service, the weather is likely to stay sunny or partly cloudy, within 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit, through next week.
