Here at Trancas it felt like a garbage truck just put a big been down on the street.

A familiar face is back at City Hall as a consultant … as the city tries to hack through an accumulation of back work at the city Planning Department.  Details: http://www.radiomalibu.net/consultant-contract-at-city-hall/

A very small natural gas leak at Point Dume Elementary School brought out the fire trucks late yesterday afternoon.

Hey work crew installing a new air conditioning system at the school cafeteria pierced a natural gas supply line.

The fire department was called … the immediate work site was evacuated … and as a precaution one science class got moved to the library.

Parents were asked to avoid Greyfox and pick up their kids on the east side of school yesterday.

The school officials say no students or staff were at any point endangered.

This reminder … the third test of the Malibu emergency alert phone system.

The city will be calling phones located … or registered … along Malibu Road from Amarillo Beach east to the Malibu Lagoon … as well as the Civic Center area and Serra Estates.

This is the third chunk of Malibu to be tested by the city as they see if their emergency phone dial-up system called Everbridge works properly.

The first test was a fail … when it became apparent that the entire city cannot be phoned at the same time.

Next Wednesday … the city will test eastern Malibu.

The first two tests seem to have gone well … according to city public safety director Susan Duenas.
