On behalf of the Malibu Search and Rescue Team, the Malibu Mountain Rescue Team, Inc., launched a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the team’s rescue efforts. This entails “help[ing] offset the cost of rescue equipment that gets worn out during rescue operations and to equip new members,” the description on the page reads.

Nine members of the squad were recognized earlier this month in Sacramento for their exemplary service and received awards—including medals of valor, reserve coordinators of the year and search; distinguished service awards and rescue member of the year—from the California Reserve Peace Officers Association.

The team responds to incidents all over the Santa Monica Mountains/Malibu areas, and often assists other teams in California.
