Pepperdine women’s soccer team received an uptick in several national rankings after a couple of wins to start off the season.
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America ranked the team at No. 20, Soccer America placed the team at No. 23 and the Top Drawer Soccer rating put them at No. 24.
The Waves’ recent wins over Arizona and Kentucky contributed to the ratings. Pepperdine soundly defeated both teams with dominant offensive performances. The Arizona game finished 3-1 and the Kentucky game completed 3-0. Both games took place in Malibu.
As a result from the impressive performances, Pepperdine’s Rylee Baisden was awarded the West Coast Conference Player of the Week. She scored three goals and was credited for two assists for the week.
The Pepperdine team suffered its first loss on Aug. 28 against USC, 0-3. The team’s record with 3 wins and 1 loss is still strong.
The Waves first opportunity to bounce back with another win is on Friday at 1 p.m. (PST) when they’ll travel to Maryland. They’ll continue their East Coast tour on Sunday against Virginia.
