As of 4:30 p.m., the accident had been cleared but traffic remained slow in both directions, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. An unspecified number of people were treated for “minor injuries,” according to Lt. Jim Royal of the Malibu/Lost Hills Station.
Traffic is heavy in both directions of PCH, with southbound lanes backed up until Nobu Restaurant near the Malibu Pier.
Three cars collided at Pacific Coast Highway and Topanga Canyon Road on Friday afternoon, forcing authorities to shut down one lane of traffic in both directions on PCH, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
It was unclear whether there were any injuries, but Officer Smith of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed ambulances had been called to the scene. Helicopters were also hovering above the area.
The crash was reported just after 3 p.m. and involved a Prius, an Acura and an Infiniti. All three vehicles suffered “major traffic collision damage,” according to the CHP.
Traffic is slowed in both directions, causing a Friday afternoon headache for many commuters.
