Oct. 4 marked the debut of “Cosmic Conjunction 2009”, a special one-day concert at Griffith Observatory. The inaugural event was hosted and presented by Friends of the Observatory, and was developed to link astronomy and the arts. It marked the first time in the observatory’s history that a full 67-piece symphony orchestra performed on its lawn. The concert also featured the world premiere of “Observations,” an original orchestral composition by Arthur B. Rubinstein of Symphony In The Glen, with live narration by actor Leonard Nimoy.
