The Waves overcame North Carolina State 4-0 during last week’s ITA Kick-Off Weekend Championships, earning the tennis team a bid to the ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championships.
The Waves dominated in both singles and doubles during the competition, clinching the overall win with sophomore Luisa Stefani’s 6-3, 6-4 victory. Stefani also grabbed a 6-2 doubles win with senior partner Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai.
Freshman Ashley Lahey also brought the home team wins with her singles 6-2, 6-0 victory and 6-0 doubles win with partner, sophomore Dzina Milovanovic.
To add to Pepperdine’s outstanding run, junior Mayar Sherif took home a 6-0, 6-2 singles win over the competition.
The Waves face California at home on Friday, Feb. 3, at 1:30 p.m., just before going head-to-head with Florida on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 12 p.m.
The ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championships take place Feb. 10-13, and will be hosted by Yale in New Haven, Conn.
