A motorcycle ride organized to raise awareness for mesothelioma begins in Marina Del Rey on Sunday at 10 a.m. and will end at Sycamore Cove State Beach in Malibu at 12 p.m., according to a notice sent out Sunday morning by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Drivers along Pacific Coast Highway throughout Malibu should expect delays on the westbound side of PCH during the ride.

Proceeds from the ride, called “The Greatest Escape Motorcycle Ride,” will go to the Pacific Meso Center. The Center is a leading researcher in fighting mesothelioma, a form of aggressive cancer related to the inhalation of asbestos. It can often go undetected for 20-30 years.

Participants in Sunday’s event include LA County Sheriff Lee Baca. After riders complete their trek, bikers will be treated to a concert and food at Sycamore Cove. Locals are invited to attend the free concert as well.
