More than 120 local orphans, foster youth and homeless children will be treated to the second annual Spirit of Goodwill Holiday Party hosted by Malibu nonprofit Safety Harbor Kids, an organization supporting foster homes and homeless shelters around Los Angeles.
The holiday party will include volunteers who will greet the children and discuss their individual career and artistic goals, snacks, Christmas carols by a fireplace, two Christmas trees, presents and stockings stuffed with treats.
Entertainment will includes performances by Maria Newman, the Malibu Chamber Players, Hannah Schneider and the Malibu Coast Children’ Choir. A complete Christmas dinner will also be served, with 12 of the 120 children’s meals sponsored by Jeff Peterson of Geoffrey’s. The party also features appearances by Santa and his elves, woodcrafts and art, a discussion on honesty, motivation, and career development, and a college scholarship fund founded by Malibu resident Kym Lubell to which community members can donate to help the children with college expenses.
Donations are tax deductible. The event will be held Dec. 13 at Pepperdine University. More information can be obtained by calling 310.455.0354.
