On Friday, several teachers, school staff, parents and a student were honored for sharing their time and talents with the Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School community. This annual luncheon celebrates the many people who go above and beyond the needs of their positions to make the school a truly special learning community.
The award winners included Colleen Baum (Golden Oak Service Award); Ken Harris, Kelly Meyer and Cindy Johnson (Continuing Service Award); and Heidi Amundson and Karen Farrer (Honorary Service Award); Jennifer McIntyre, Pat Cairns and Steve Parker (Very Special Person)
The recipients of the Otter Award were Jerri Churchill, Linda Colby, Lissa & Gene Fein, Cindy Felman, Lydia Graham, Melinda Gwyn, Kris Jennings Tammy Malmoux, Candace McKeever, Amy Raine, Regan Schaar, Kristy Simonian, Station 71 and Ali Thonson
This year, a new award was created in the memory of office assistant Janet Swartout, a popular employee who died last year. The award went to the student who best represented her generosity of spirit. Kayleigh MacGregor, the fifth-grader who received the award, was chosen unanimously by both teachers and students.
