As part of an initiative by the National Education Association (NEA) and the Consortium for Educational Change (CEC), educators are coached as they advance in their careers. Sixty educators are involved in the Early Career Leadership Fellow initiative, including Malibu High School’s Diana Martinez and eight other teachers from Santa Monica schools.
The nine fellows will attend a Las Vegas meeting in October, when they’ll meet their coaches.
“We believe this initiative will be able to bring emerging leaders into relevant association work that they are passionate about and has accomplished just that during the first two years of the program,” CEC Senior Director Mary McDonald said in a released statement.
The local participants are part of one of six total education associations participating from around the country.
