Is it the ridge, or not the ridge? That is the question. According to Webster’s dictionary, ridge is “a long narrow elevation of land or range of hills or mountains.”

That’s what we thought. The City of Malibu has another definition. They are calling the rock outcropping at the north part of the ridgeline, “The Ridge.” Wait a minute! If the rock outcropping is now “The Ridge,” then what is the City calling the rest of the ridge? “The Knoll!”

So when someone says the “ridge is saved,” they really mean the “rocks are saved.” But the knoll is not saved. As a matter of fact, it still is going to be bulldozed 25 feet whether it’s called a knoll or a ridge. So what do we do now? Save the knoll!
