In a notice sent out to subscribers on Wednesday afternoon, the city announced that the Malibu City Council would hold a special meeting on Thursday evening.
“The Mayor bas called a Special Meeting … for the purpose of receiving ethics training in accordance with AB1234,” the announcement stated.
AB1234 was passed by state lawmakers in 2005 and stipulates that locally elected officials must be trained in ethical practices “if a local agency provides any type of compensation, salary or stipend to, or reimburses the expenses of a member of its legislative body.”
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday at Malibu City Hall.
