A woman was found dead Saturday in an overturned car at the bottom of a canyon approximately two miles east of Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas, according to a press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Malibu Search and Rescue Team.
Members of the rescue team were scouting locations for upcoming training locations on Mulholland Highway on Saturday when one member noticed “something white” at the bottom of a nearby canyon at 12:12 p.m. Team members descended to the canyon floor, where they found an overturned sport utility vehicle (SUV) on its roof. Inside the SUV they found the body of a woman, who appeared to be the driver of the vehicle, according to the press release.
Personnel from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene. The woman’s body was removed from the canyon after the coroner completed an initial investigation.
The investigation into the woman’s death is being handled by California Highway Patrol.
The woman owned the SUV and did not have a city of residence, as she had apparently been living out of her vehicle, according to the press release.
