A pox on both houses?

Publisher York’s editorial concerning the future of the Separation of Church and State clause (Malibu Times, Dec. 29) brings to mind the current flap about intelligent design. On the absolute ends of the intellectual spectrum these days we find, on the proponent right, those brothers under the skin, the Western televangelists and the Eastern decapitators, and, on the opponent left, those thinly disguised socialists and acolytes of uniformity, the ACLUers. Analyzing the views of such a cast of characters is a waste of time. On the other hand, their antics do suggest an argument of unintelligent design, which seems well worth considering.
