In response to “Local Resident Severely Injured in Motorcycle Collision on Latigo Canyon” published on Sept. 14.
As the victim of the recent hit-and-run on Latigo Canyon, I’d like to thank The Malibu Times for its coverage. I have to emphasize that the “collision,” which severely injured me, was, by legal definition, a hit-and-run. The operator of the motorcycle that wiped me out failed to take reasonable steps to offer me medical assistance, call 911 to report to local law enforcement, reveal his identity, or exchange insurance information, proof of insurance and contact information.
Instead, this coward fled the scene by conning me into believing he was going to get my wife after inputting my address and phone number into his cell phone. I was bleeding profusely from my shattered elbow and wrist while he made his escape. I was stranded without cell signal or assurance of help on the way.
I am appealing to the public for help in his identity and arrest, if not for what he did to me then for what havoc and danger he will impose in the future. He learned nothing from escaping death and is void of a conscience. Someone out there knows who he is and it is my fervent wish that “doing the right thing”—that is, turning him in—still exists in humanity. Next time, it could be your loved one.
