Pepperdine University is expected to be busy this week with two major events happening on campus. Wed., Sept. 18, marks Pepperdine’s Annual Founders Day and on Thurs., Sept. 19 Wynonna Judd comes to campus for a special performance.
Wynonna and her band The Big Noise will perform a selection of their most widely known hits along with a few covers at Pepperdine’s Smothers Theatre on Thursday at 8 p.m. The concert is sponsored the Office of Andrew K. Benton, President of Pepperdine University with ticket prices ranging from $40-$75 and $10 for Pepperdine students.
Pepperdine will also celebrate its Annual Founders Day, which marks the beginning of a new academic year, on Wednesday. The special Founders Day convocation will begin at 10 a.m. in the Firestone Fieldhouse and feature an alumni processional and reception. There will also be a reading of George Pepperdine’s original speech from when he opened the original Los Angeles campus in 1937, and a message from the President of Pepperdine University, Andrew K. Benton. Pepperdine’s Founders Day commemorates the University’s early beginnings and honors the vision of its founder, George Pepperdine.Â
