Johnny Mandel will be performing at the City of Malibu Performing Arts Center this Sunday, Dec. 8, for the Friends of Malibu Urgent Care Fundraiser.
The host of the event, Friends of Malibu Urgent Care Center (F.M.U.C.C.), is a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds in support of the Malibu Urgent Care Center. The facility, near the intersection of the Pacific Coast Highway and Webb Way, provides walk-in medical service for the community every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Supporters seek to fund extended hours and the purchase of new, state-of-the-art medical equipment for the center.
The ticketed event will include complimentary appetizers and wine, followed by an hour-and-a-half concert by Johnny Mandel and his Big Band. Mandel, the winner of five Grammy Awards and one Academy Award, has been active in the world of music for seven decades. He is best known for his jazz compositions in film and television, including “Suicide is Painless,” the theme of the TV show M*A*S*H. Other hits include “The Shadow of your Smile” and “Close Enough for Love.”
