Local Chelsea Chadwick earned a silver medal at the AAU Spring Classic Sand Volleyball Tournament in Manhattan Beach on April 7.
Chadwick, 12, competed with partner Krista Blide, of Santa Monica, against 16 two-person teams from Los Angeles to San Diego at the tournament. After five straight victories in pool and bracket play, they lost in the finals, but still were awarded automatic berths in the AAU Junior Olympics in Santa Barbara in August, in addition to their silver medals.
Chadwick plays sand volleyball for the Crescent Beach Volleyball Club, indoor volleyball for LAVA South and plays for St. Mel School, where she was named co-offensive MVP.
