Karen Lyn Krings

Karen Lyn Krings died on April 19 at San Diego Hospice after a three-year battle with colon cancer. She was 50.

In 1955, Krings was born in Nagoya, Japan and grew up in St. Louis, Mo. She attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated from McClure High School. She attended the University of Colorado, University of Wyoming and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering from UC Santa Barbara.

Krings settled in La Jolla. She worked for General Dynamics, CSC, and for the last 10 years with Booz Allen & Hamilton. Krings was an integral part of the Navy Marine Corps Internet program at SPAWAR since its inception.

Krings was a traveler, skier, snow boarder and scuba diver. Recently, she spent much of her time with her bulldogs, Carleton and Lizette, and with Bulldog Rescue.

Krings is survived by her mother, Marilyn D. Krings; her father John E. Krings and his wife Barbara; brothers, John Kent and Kirk Edward of Malibu and Joseph Kerry.

Krings was a Catholic and received Viaticum a few days before her death. She chose not to have any Memorial service.
