Malibu resident Jonathan Toker earned first place in the XTerra Boney Mountain Trail Run Jan. 6 in Newbury Park. Toker completed the 21-kilometer course in one hour, 35 minutes and 23 seconds. Despite rainy weather, nearly 500 runners showed up to compete in the event.
Toker often trains on the trails at Boney Mountain, and his familiarity with the course helped him to victory in the race.
“These trails are my local training ground and a very familiar route, so I have a fairly good sense of pacing and what kind of terrain was still to come during the race,” Toker said.
