Bill Krenn, director of media relations at Pepperdine University, died Jan. 19 after battling a prolonged illness.
A public relations professional with more than 30 years of experience, Krenn won awards working at several PR and marketing agencies throughout the country. He came to Pepperdine in 2010 after spending more than a decade at The Phelps Group in Santa Monica.
As Pepperdine’s director of media relations, Krenn placed several high-profile stories in both local and national publications promoting the university, including an inspirational article by women’s basketball coach Julie Rousseau, recently published in Guideposts magazine.
“Bill was a true professional with a gift for matching the right story with the right reporter,” a statement from Pepperdine read.
A memorial service took place Jan. 24 at Saint Monica’s Catholic Church in Santa Monica.
Donations may be made in Krenn’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
