OLM School Hosts Robotics Tournament

OLM School students participate in the VEX Robotics Tournament.

Our Lady of Malibu School hosted a VEX Robotics Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 24. Fifteen teams from California competed at the campus for awards and a chance to advance to the California State Championship Level. Three teams from OLM participated in the competition. 

Several awards were given out to students, including awards for excellence, teamwork, programming, driving skills, design and STEM research. Two teams from OLM placed in the finalist ranking for teamwork, coming in third and fourth place. In the programming category, one of OLM’s teams placed first and received a trophy. 

All three of the teams from OLM achieved World Rankings in this year’s competition. Two of the teams will participate in the state level competition, which takes place on Feb. 14. 

Volunteers who helped out at the competition include Eric Himburg, Tom Vandergon, Gini Vandergon, Denise Joyce, Vanda Collins, Susan Johnson Fox, Katy Kamen, Jennifer Medrano, Evelyn Himburg and Glen Sunyich.
