In early March, California Senator Ben Allen named Catherine Baxter as the 26th state Senate district’s 2019 Woman of the Year. Baxter is best known as Santa Monica High School dean of students.
In a social media post, Allen recognized her for devotion to young people in the Santa Monica community.
Baxter is also a former Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District student; she attended Webster Elementary School, the former Malibu Park Junior High School and Samohi, per current Webster principal Patrick Miller.
Allen represents his hometown of Santa Monica and other cities in the Westside and South Bay regions of LA County. He previously served on the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education.
