Real estate investor Donald Sterling has purchased a 9.8 acre property across from Point Dume Village along Pacific Coast Highway that the city had considered purchasing for ball fields and a park. Property owner Zan Marquis informed the City of Malibu in a letter Wednesday that he had sold the property to Sterling, who owns the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers. Escrow closed on the property on Wednesday.
Malibu City Councilmember Pamela Conley Ulich had campaigned for the city to purchase the property from Marquis
“I’m very disappointed the City Council didn’t have the foresight to purchase this priceless property,” Ulich told The Malibu Times Thursday.
