New Web site for MalibuGreenMachine

MalibuGreenMachine, the nonprofit dedicated to “greening” community areas in Malibu, has announced the launch of a new Web site through which donors can contribute and get project news updates.

The site, developed and donated by Santa Monica’s The Ocean Group, provides a look at MalibuGreenMachine’s centerpiece project, a privately funded $1.5 million median enhancement on Pacific Coast Highway, stretching from Malibu Creek Plaza to Malibu Canyon Road.

“We’re thrilled with our new site, malibugreenmachine.org,” said MalibuGreenMachine president Jo Giese, who also pointed out that the new site “gives our donors and supporters a great way to stay updated on developments and continue to support us with donations.

“We’ve timed the launch to coincide with the countdown to construction on the highway project,” she added.

MalibuGreenMachine has already raised significant funds. Steve Soboroff, chair of fundraising, said, “We have completed the tough parts -Caltrans, environmental, safety, and other approvals. Our start date for construction is September 25, 2008. We are down to needing one challenge grant of $250,000.”

In addition to donations, Giese also stated that the We site will provide information about volunteer opportunities and activities.
