Sweeney case back to council
A Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge has sent the issue of developer Brian Sweeney’s attempt to build a private road above Sweetwater Mesa to the City Council.
Sweeney had proposed building a private road on his steep mountain property above Sweetwater Mesa. The road would link his unincorporated Los Angeles County property to Sweetwater Mesa Road. But in 2002, the council rejected the Planning Commission’s approval of a variance for the road. Sweeney then brought the issue to court.
The judge wrote that the city must vacate its denial of the variance and plot plan applications, and either approve those applications or conduct further proceedings and render a new decision.
