An 83-year-old Topanga woman was found after wandering away from her home Monday, Nov. 27. CBS News identified the rescued walker as Lisa Hamilton Wear. More than 50 people from groups such as Malibu Search and Rescue Team (SAR), LA County Sheriff’s Department, Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station and LA County Fire Department. Four helicopters and seven sheriff and fire search dogs were also deployed.
The woman, whom SAR describes as “an avid female walker suffering from dementia,” wandered away in the morning and was found more than six hours later.
According to CBS, Wear was found about 13 miles from her home in Topanga.
