After receiving a request from the city of Malibu to do so, the California Coastal Commission staff has postponed a hearing and vote on the proposed amendment to the Malibu Local Coastal Program. The hearing was scheduled for this week.

The Coastal Commission staff had recommended that the voting body reject the city’s proposal to modify the LCP or that it approve the amendment with alterations favored by the Coastal Commission staff. In response, Malibu Environmental and Community Development Director Vic Peterson wrote a letter to the Coastal Commission staff asking that the hearing be delayed until October so the city could review the commission’s counter proposal.

The Coastal Commission staff’s recommendation can be viewed online at www.coastal.ca.gov. Click “Public Meetings” on the upper-left-hand corner. Then scroll down to “City of Malibu LCP Amendment MAJ 1-06,” and click on the link.
