The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Services Detail has scheduled a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and driver’s license checkpoint in Malibu for Friday, Sept. 8 from 6 p.m.-2 a.m. The checkpoint is at an undisclosed location within Malibu city limits.
In a statement, the sheriff’s department emphasized that taking drugs, including marijuana or the prescription variety, could be impairing enough for a DUI citation. Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol- or drug-related impaired driving as well as proper licensing.
Those caught driving impaired can expect jail time, fines, DUI classes, license suspensions and other fees that can exceed $10,000.
