On behalf of Greater Malibu Disaster Recovery Project I would like to thank the Weinstein Company for presenting the pre-release screening of the movie, “The Great Debaters,” shown at the Malibu Performing Arts Center on Dec. 19. The Weinstein Company brought a great movie to citizens of Malibu specifically to assist the fire survivors that GMDRP was chartered to assist. Gene Shively of the Malibu Performing Arts Center, Comm Cinema and Karen York of The Malibu Times help sponsor the event. The movie itself and refreshments were donated by the Weinstein Company.
Nicolas Liakas, president of the Santa Barbara Region of Porsche Club of America, attended and presented a check for $1,500 to GMDRP on behalf of Porsche enthusiasts from Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
All of these people are deserving of the communities thanks for stepping forward, without request, to assist our fire survivors. Last but not least our thanks go to the members of the community who attended the movie. Every cent donated for admission will go to survivors of the 2007 Malibu fires.
Thank you, thank you to all of you for making Malibu the great place to live that it is and helping GMDRP fulfill its mission.
