PTA leaders seek support

As leaders of the PTAs at Malibu’s four public schools, we would like to thank you for your support of education in our school district. Thanks to past voter support, our schools have essential programs like smaller class sizes, art and music programs, quality teachers, libraries and school nurses, just to name a few. This local funding, through Measure R, is coming up for renewal on the Feb. 5 ballot. We hope we can count on your renewed support to ensure that Malibu schools continue to stand out academically, both statewide and nationwide.

Measure R protects our excellent schools with no new taxes. It reviews expiring voter-approved measures without increasing current tax rates. We truly believe that excellent schools are a big part of what makes Malibu a great place to live and also helps protect our property values.

The State of California does not provide enough funding for the high quality schools that our students deserve and that our community expects. Local funding through Measure R will allow our schools to continue to: retain excellent teachers, support reading and literacy instruction, protect smaller class sizes, offer programs to improve student skills in math, preserve science and technology instruction, support school libraries, keep music and art in our schools.

Please join us in celebrating quality schools in Malibu by voting “yes” on Measure R on Feb. 5. Our kids, our teachers and our schools appreciate your support.
